Stumbled Upon

Nail de Kaen!! Who would of ever thought such talent worked around the corner from my apartment. I was walking home from work and have passed this nail salon 1000x and thought I would book myself an appointment to get my feet done. They're gross its winter don't judge. The store I work in is now getting in amazing summer stock of shoes and I can't work in them with my feet in their current state. So i popped in and made an appointment for 2 weeks from now which is the earliest anyone can fix these bad boys up. This little studio has so much talent its not just polish its nail art! The lady who helped book my appointment had little olympic mascots painted on each one of her perfectly manicured finger tips. I highly recommend checking this place out, word to the wise book in advance if you have something special coming up.

Dueling for Two

Any one up for a little sword play? I am. Ever since I watched the Princess Bride at a very young age and watched Westley and Inigo Montoya duel it out, I've wanted to try my hand at a little medieval fun. So this weekend I'm letting my competitive side come out and taking a complementary lesson at Academie Duello (412 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC.). I herby challenge you to enjoy a fun and romantic afternoon or evening of swordplay. All you need is comfortable clothing and a sense of adventure. During a two hour session you will acquire the skills of attack and defence with either the rapier or longsword followed by an opportunity to try out your new skills on the instructor, friend or date. ;)

Sunscape Tanning Salon

Pretty Amazing deal. The Studio is Spotless I have a thing about uber clean tanning salons.. I've heard way to many horror stories.

5 Tanning Tips

1.Choose a tanning salon with a nationally certified staff
2.Always wear protective eye wear
3.Use an after tan moisturizer three times daily
4.Use a high quality indoor tanning lotion
5.Avoid showering within six hours of tanning

After Tan Moisturizer Products that rock is anything with hemp seed oil as a main ingredient Hemp oil is very important because it is a type of humectants. If you are wondering what humectants are, they are a type of non-oily substance that attracts moisture from the air, retards evaporation, and holds in water or moisture. In other words it, when applied to the skin it will draw moisture from the air and hydrate the skin. The fact that hemp oil hydrates the skin is fantastic because the tanning beds ultra violet (UV) lights are known to be dehydrating on the skin. Also, hemp lotions have a high concentration of essential fatty acids which are known to aid in increasing the effectiveness of absorption of moisture in the skins lipid layers. This will reduce the normal damage cause by tanning, such as the process of drying skin caused my tanning. Im using the HEMPZ herbal moisturizer and my skin looks and feels great! :)

Let's just hope I don't get carried away and end up looking like those jersey shore kids ;P

Lululemon Gets Gold for Guts

This week, Vancouver brand giant Lululemon Athletica got media-spanked by VANOC for creating and selling a clothing line that’s named “Cool Sporting Event That Takes Place in British Columbia Between 2009 & 2011 Edition.” The line features red mittens, hoodies and toques that all look sort-of familiar. Has Lulu crossed a line? Nope. They did their research before even labeling this line to be careful not to step anyones toes at VANOC. The VANOC folk have been so freakin’ anal-retentive about brand control for the upcoming games.

In the brand battle between Lululemon and Vanoc Im placing my money on Lulu. Personally I will be sporting their cheer gear line during the games I think the gold zipper is an added touch that HBC missed out on.

LuLuLemon constantly has creative marketing idea's that is truly putting their brand out there, along with learning about their fabrication in classes make me feel great about the amount of luluyoga wear I own.

On Top of all this Vanoc rebellion during the olympics, Lululemon is teaming up with Y YOGA studios in giving FREE UNLIMITED YOGA to anyone for the entire winter olympics! Thats almost 3 weeks of FREE YOGA!

All you have to do is head to any Lululemon store when the olympics start, and ask for a coupon.

Hope you will all enjoy at least 1 class, it is a great opportunity to try out some classes. They have a variety of classes & times to choose from and great teachers.

Go Green or Go Home!

Honestly Ontario Wins!

After being in British Columbia for 5 months now and not having to pay for plastic bags at grocery stores and not having to sort my leftovers into separate bins has been quite the change. I seriously thought BC would be more Eco friendly. It really isn't and I challenge everyone in this whole province to step their game up!

Starting with your closets!

On November 20-21, the Ethical Fashion Forum organized the very first Global Sourcing Marketplace. The event was the first of its kind and brought together over thirty ethical/eco suppliers and 200 visitors from all over the world. It is often difficult for designers and fashion brands to ensure they have an ethical supply chain. This event, following the Spotlight on Sourcing Seminars, showed a glimpse of what can be achieved in the future of fashion production.Next to young designers and established ethical brands such as “Frank & Faith”, “Ascension” and “Luflux”, the high street was present. There were representatives from a range of big retailers including representatives from Marks & Spenser, Topshop, and Ted Baker.

Its great that even the high street shops are realizing that us as consumers are starting to become more conscious of the products we buy.

5 Simple ways we can Save Money & Our Planet.

1. Look for ways you can reduce energy use, including driving less, flying less, turning off the lights, buying local seasonal food, wearing a sweater instead of turning up the heat, using a clothesline instead of dryer, vacationing closer to home, buying used or borrowing things before buying new, and recycling.

2. Nurture a zero-waste culture in your home, school, workplace, church, and community. Use both sides of the paper, bring your own mugs and shopping bags, refill rather than replace printer cartridges, compost food scraps, avoiding bottled water and other overpackaged products, upgrade your PC instead of buying a new one, repair and mend instead of replacing.

3. Detox your body, home, and economy by eliminating products that contain unnecessary toxic chemical additives. Do some research online at sites such as Cosmetics Database.

4. Unplug the television and the Internet, and get involved with your community.

5. Park your car and walk.
